About the Society

The SVT/SHO Society was founded in Mid 1999 by three enthusiasts who wanted something more than just Saturday night cruising. We set out to try and pull together many of the SHO and SVT owners in the southwest Michigan area by filling a need for a serious, member based organization devoted to Ford speciality performance sedans. While many people consider the practicality of these vehicles, the SVT/SHO Society recognizes the dual nature of these vehicles as practical sedans combined with high levels of performance and subtile yet exciting styling that really set these vehicles in a class all by themselves. Our first official meeting was on February 26th, 2000, and we've been growing and expanding ever since!

The SVT/SHO Society is dedicated to providing club members a unique atmosphere in which their special vehicle can be discussed and appreciated. In one summer we grew from three enthusiasts in the Kalamazoo, MI area to become the most active Contour/Taurus enthusiast club in the United States with members spanning the Great Lakes region from eastern Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. We've attended and participated in everything from car shows to SCCA autocross events to drag racing event and even indepth tech sessions. In 2001 we hosted Spring Zing, a national weekend convention for Taurus and Contour owners and we had nearly 100 cars in attendance from as far away as Oklahoma, Florida and Colorado. We also are working with area businesses to bring special discounts to club members, we publish online newsletters and we are ever working to find new member benefits! The Society is a dedicated enthusiast club that refuses to let grass grow under our tires, and we welcome Taurus/Contour enthusiasts young and old alike.

There is a $15 annual membership fee to help cover expenses and special events. However we encourage everyone to talk with a club representative or attend a meeting to see just how much the club has to offer; we think you'll agree that $15 a year is well worth it! Of course there's absolutely no obligation to join; we welcome all enthusiasts whether or not you decide to join up! Payments can be made at events, meetings, or by regular mail at the address listed below. We accept cash, checks & money orders (no credit cards). Checks should be made out to the SVT/SHO Society Treasurer, Steve Chang.
